I took a picture of the church this past winter, in March of 2026. The snow finally melted, but it was still a grey, wintry day. The 2 large maple trees in front of the church were bare of leaves, and it captured an interesting type of haunting view of the church. The grass in front lawn had a little bit of green but mostly browns and yellows of winter’s grip. I worked on adding the texture of the whitewashed bricks to give the painting some depth and an almost 3-dimensional feel.
The Schoharie Reformed Church, residing at 258 Main St, Schoharie, is a beautiful building with a lot of Christian spirit and history. The Schoharie Reformed Church is part of the Reformed Church in America denomination. The Church is a part of the local grouping called the Classis of Schoharie and the Regional Synod of Albany.
The Church, on its website, welcomes you to come in and join them as they proclaim:
“No matter who you are, you are welcome at the Schoharie Reformed Church.”
The painting is on an 8 x 10 canvas board, painted with acrylic paint, oil & acrylic pens.
